NEW YORK (AP) - The death of an upstate woman whose body was found in the trunk of a car in Queens last week has been ruled a homicide, police said Monday.

The body of 26-year-old Destini Smothers was found March 10 in the trunk of an abandoned car parked on a road in the South Ozone Park neighborhood.

Smothers, a mother of two children, had been missing since early November when she traveled to Queens from her home in Troy.

The medical examiner’s office has ruled the death a homicide due to a blunt impact injury to the head. Police have made no arrests.
