NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Fire has destroyed a building at a closed golf course in New Orleans in a blaze that sent smoke billowing over the city, authorities said.
The blaze in the vacant building was reported Wednesday evening at the abandoned Brechtel Park Country Club, The Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate reported.
The fire was challenging to put out once it spread to trees and brush in the wooded area, authorities said.
Fire officials say one firefighter was taken to a hospital for an elevated heart rate. No other injuries were reported.
