The Trump presidency will fade with time. The carnival tunes accompanying former President Trump’s three-ring Oval Office circus will transform into lullabies as Joe Biden provides a soporific cover for his own personal and policy mistakes.

As the tumult of the Trump ruction pales and his outsize image on the Beltway stage dwindles, accomplishments in his brief time in the spotlight will gain traction, especially as objective voices assess the record. Perhaps the most important of his many achievements will prove to be the phenomenal speed by which a vaccine countering the COVID-19 pandemic was fashioned.

Of course, if you enlist in the Trump Legion and formulate your choice, regardless of differences your fellow Americans have with this partisan and bitterly riven man, have at it. But recognize that independent voters like me, who believe Mr. Trump’s policies were mostly correct and his persona almost fatally objectionable, will stand aside.
