Across men’s sports, leagues like the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL have had trouble getting their players vaccinated. Though 65% of players in the NFL, for instance, have at least one shot — there are plenty of players like Buffalo’s Cole Beasley and Washington’s Montez Sweat who have outright said they refuse to get the vaccine.Â
That hasn’t been a problem for the WNBA.
On Monday, the women’s basketball league touted a 99% vaccination rate — suggesting almost all of the league’s players have been vaccinated. The league consists of 12 teams with 12 players per roster, though some teams are granted extra players for exceptions like injuries.Â
Since the WNBA started its season in May, the league has yet to have a player test positive for the virus.
“In addition, 99 percent of the league’s players are now fully vaccinated,” the WNBA said in a statement, “and all 12 teams have met the threshold to be considered a fully vaccinated team.”Â
