I wish your newspaper would stop using words and labels manufactured by the political left. Language is important and words have meaning. To slap a negative label on any group that has legitimate grievances is to play into the left’s hands.

Using “woke” instead of “Marxist” gives them a sort of legitimacy and does nothing to explain their real purpose. Other examples: “choice” for “abortion,” “count every vote” for “count legal votes,” “CRT” for “anti-American,” “insurrection” for “protest,” “false claims” for “legitimate claims,” “CCP” for Chinese Communist Party” and “anti-vacc” for anyone asserting their right not to be vaccinated, etc.

This practice may save space and ink, but it is not in the best interest of the truth.

The language of a country is part and parcel of its heritage. When the English wished to eradicate the culture of the Irish, the first thing they did was make the use of the Irish language a criminal offense. Education was forbidden, leading to secret schools behind the hedges. We are heading in that direction when speaking the truth in the public square and in the schools is considered heresy.

I pray to God that we have enough gumption to imitate the Irish.

The press should help by doing its proper job and attending to the proper use of our English language.
