LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Thank you, Bill Gertz

OPINION:

On Monday, The Washington Times carried a short article by Dave Boyer reporting that President Trump awarded Republican Rep. Devin Nunes the Medal of Freedom (“Medal of Freedom goes to Rep. Nunes for ’courageous’ efforts to stop ’plot’ against Trump,” Web, Jan. 4). The medal is well-deserved.

I would like to suggest that one of The Times’ own should also become a recipient of that prestigious award. The sole reporter since the Clinton administration in the ’90s to shine a light on China and its drive to become the most powerful nation in the world has been Bill Gertz.

Mr. Gertz alone has kept the pressure on administrations from both parties to never forget the true purpose of China’s efforts around the world. He is the mold from which all reporters should endeavor to be cast.
