NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - Police in North Las Vegas say a bicyclist has died after passers-by freed him from beneath a car.
Authorities say the incident happened Sunday morning near Cheyanne Avenue and Decatur Boulevard.
According to investigators, a 49-year-old man riding a bicycle went off the sidewalk for an unknown reason and got into the path of a Kia Rio.
Police say the Kia hit the bicyclist, who became trapped under the car. Several people who witnessed the collision worked together to turn the car on its side.
The bicyclist was freed but later died from his injuries.
The 58-year-old woman driving the Kia was taken to a hospital and has been cooperating with authorities.
Police say there is no indication that driver impairment or speed played a role in the incident. But it remains under investigation.
The coroner’s office is working to identify the bicyclist.
