OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A 37-year-old Omaha woman already held in one a man’s death has been linked to a second killing, police said Friday.
Autumn Acacia-Cortes was first booked into the Douglas County jail on Saturday in the death of Jose Martinez, 58, whose body was found Jan. 20.
She was ordered held without bail on charges of first-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony in that case, police said.
On Friday, Acacia-Cortes was booked on an additional first-degree murder charge in the death of Francisco Santiago, 53, whose body was found Wednesday night in a storage shed on the grounds of the Our Lady of Guadalupe social hall.
Police had been looking for Santiago “to ensure his safety” since Martinez’s body was discovered. They have not said why they believe the two men’s deaths are linked.
