RENO, Nev. (AP) - Reno police are investigating a fatal shooting south of downtown that may have been done in self-defense.
Police say they responded to a report of a shooting at about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday in the area of South Virginia Street and Hillcrest near Plumb Lane.
The victim, whose name has not been released, already was dead. No one else was there, but police say a few minutes later a man who said he was involved in the shooting contacted police and told them he had left the scene.
“At this time, it is believed the shooting was in self-defense to a crime that was being committed,” police said in a statement Thursday.
