NATICK, Mass. (AP) - One person died in a house fire in Natick early Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Crews arrived on the scene at about 2 a.m. after getting a call from a neighbor to find the home fully engulfed, fire officials said. They were told one person was still inside.
“We believe the fire started in the rear of the house. Neighbors saw the fire and made the call,” fire Chief Mike Lentini said.
The flames were so intense that firefighters were unable to enter the home at first, but when they did they found the body of a man.
A woman who lived in the home escaped.
No names were released and the cause remains under investigation with assistance from the state fire marshal’s office.
