BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. (AP) - One man was killed and a woman was critically injured during a police pursuit in Bonner Springs early Wednesday.
The pursuit began when Bonner Springs officers received a report that a driver was speeding through a neighborhood, police said. Officers lost sight of the driver but eventually saw the car going 114 mph in a 45 mph zone.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said the driver lost control and the car hit a sign and tree before coming to a stop.
The driver, 22-year-old Juan Carlos Marquez, of Bonner Springs, died at a hospital.
An 18-year-old woman in the car was critically injured.
