SEDALIA, Mo. (AP) - A Clinton man will be sentenced in March for leading police on a chase that ended with the death of a bystander in Sedalia.

Westley Reid, 27, pleaded guilty this week to second-degree murder in the death in March of Zachary A. Hancock Bottom, 27, of Sedalia.

Authorities said was driving a stolen vehicle out of Henry County on March 1 when he was pursued by law enforcement officers into Benton County and then into Sedalia.



Reid ran a red light in Sedalia and collided with a car driven by Hancock Bottom, who was thrown from the vehicle and died later at a hospital, The Sedalia Democrat reported.

Reid also pleaded guilty Monday to driving while intoxicated leading to a death, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest, all felonies. Sentencing was scheduled for March 5.
