PHOENIX (AP) - A man is jailed on suspicion of manslaughter after a car crash killed a pedestrian in Phoenix, police said.

They say officers found evidence that the vehicle involved was street racing late Saturday night.

Police located the driver later identified as 20-year-old Alejandro Bautisa and arrested him.

It was unclear Sunday if Bautisa has a lawyer yet for his case.

Police said 31-year-old Cesar Santos was pronounced dead at the scene by Phoenix Fire Department paramedics.

Witnesses told police that a vehicle was traveling about 70 mph when it hit a pedestrian crossing the road.

Police said Santos apparently wasn’t in a marked crosswalk when he was struck and their investigation was continuing.
