EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man charged with killing his father is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on a murder charge, authorities say.
Stephen M. Walcott, 42, is charged with killing Stephen Walcott, 70, in his East Bridgewater home on Monday, The Enterprise reported.
Police went to the older man’s home at about 6:30 p.m. Monday for a well-being check and discovered the victim’s body, said Beth Stone, a spokesperson for Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz.
The younger man was arrested about an hour later.
“The investigation led detectives to a home in Brockton where an arrest was made,” Stone said.
The victim’s daughter and suspect’s sister, Lisa Walcott, told The Enterprise that her brother suffers from bipolar disorder. It was not clear if the suspect had an attorney.
The homicide was the first in East Bridgewater since 1992, the newspaper reported.
