PLAINFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A 56-year-old woman has died in a weekend snowmobile crash in Massachusetts, authorities said.
The woman crashed into a tree in the Hampshire County town of Plainfield at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday, according to the Northwestern District Attorney office.
The woman was about a mile into the Dubuque State Forest, Plainfield Volunteer Fire Chief David Alvord told WWLP-TV.
She was taken by ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton where she was pronounced dead. She had been riding with several other snowmobilers at the time.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation but foul play is not suspected.
