TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - A Topeka man who police say attacked an officer has been charged with five criminal counts, Shawnee County District Attorney Mike Kagay said Monday.
Justin Reed, 22, was charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, two counts of interference with law enforcement, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The officer was responding to a call about people in a boarded-up home last Thursday when Reed drove by on his bicycle and tried to get the officer’s attention. When the officer told him to wait, Reed attacked him and tried to take his gun, police said.
A bystander pulled Reed off the officer, who was not seriously injured.
Reed is being held on a $100,000 bond.
