Shortly before Super Bowl LV kicked off Sunday night, President Biden and Dr. Jill Biden honored first responders and led a moment of silence for the 440,000 Americans who have died from the coronavirus.
“You put yourself at risk to keep the rest of us safe,” Dr. Jill Biden said. “You and your families carried us through this year with courage, compassion and kindness. We couldn’t have made it without you. With all our hearts, thank you.”
The president reminded viewers to wear masks, remain socially distanced, get tested and take the vaccine once available.
“Most of all, let’s remember all those who we’ve lost,” Biden said.
According to the CDC, there were 107,489 new coronavirus cases in the country on Feb. 6, the lowest single-day tally since November.
