WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - The bishop of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston has reestablished a group that will give its members a voice in future decisions.
The Diocesan Pastoral Council will hold its first meeting in almost 15 years on Feb. 19-20, diocese spokesman Tim Bishop told The Intelligencer Wheeling News Register. He said the faithful deserve the chance to help the church move forward.
The council will help Bishop Mark Brennan develop priorities and initiatives as the church initiates plans to fulfill its mission. The group was established by Bishop Joseph Hodges in 1968 and met until 2006.
“I look forward to having a Diocesan Pastoral Council that can bring to my attention concerns and ideas to enhance the spiritual and apostolic life and work of the Diocese and react to plans and issues I may bring up,” Brennan said.
The group will meet three times a year.
