SAN DIEGO (AP) - Human remains found in a rugged area of San Diego County have been identified as that of a man who vanished before Christmas from a local home.
Christopher Paul Parkhurst, 47, went missing on Dec. 23 from a home in Potrero, an unincorporated area in the southeastern county near the Mexican border, authorities said.
He was diabetic and had suffered a stroke sometime before he vanished, according to the county Sheriff’s Department.
His remains were found Thursday in nearby Dulzura, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
The two remote areas are separated by rocky, shrub-covered hills, the paper said.
Autopsy results will determine the cause of Parkhurst’s death.
