RAYTOWN, Mo. (AP) - A woman arrested in the fatal shooting of a man in Raytown this week has been charged with second-degree murder in the case, officials said.
Jackson County prosecutors also charged Daizhane Redmond, 24, with armed criminal action in the early Wednesday shooting death of Mitchell Wright, who was described as her ex-boyfriend.
Officers were called to a home in the Kansas City suburb around 2 a.m. Wednesday by Wright, who told a dispatcher that his ex-girlfriend had a gun and was trying to kill him, police said. Arriving officers found Wright with gunshot wounds, and he died at a hospital.
Police arrested Redmond a short time later. Redmon told investigators that she shot Wright after he moved toward her inside the apartment, police said.
