SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A homeless Louisiana man was among six people whose deaths were caused by the winter storm last week, authorities said Thursday.

The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office said in a news release that the body of 61-year-old James Delbert Cunningham was found about 9:15 p.m. on Feb. 15 outside a building near downtown Shreveport.

He was homeless, and was identified by his fingerprints with help from the FBI, the statement said.

Investigators found hypothermia to be the likely cause of death.

Six people have died in Louisiana from exposure or carbon monoxide poisoning, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
