LINCOLN, Maine (AP) - A 7-year-old girl was killed in a house fire in Maine, the state fire marshal’s office said Tuesday.

Three adults and two other children were able to escape Monday evening from the fire in Lincoln, officials said. But the girl was still inside and flames were shooting 30 feet into the air, Lincoln Fire Capt. Kenneth Goslin told WABI-TV.

Firefighters located her body after battling back the flames, he said. Lincoln is about 45 miles north of Bangor.

The victim was identified Tuesday as 7-year-old Adele Parent; autopsy results were pending further study. The survivors were taken to a hospital for examination, officials said.

The investigation is ongoing. Investigators spent the day at the scene and will be returning Wednesday.
