LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say a woman was fatally hit by a car while crossing the street.

Authorities say the collision occurred Sunday night in west Las Vegas. According to police, the woman was walking outside of a crosswalk and against the pedestrian traffic signal when she was struck.

The Chrysler that hit her was following a green traffic light.

Investigators say the woman, who was wearing all black and pushing a shopping car, was transported to the hospital. She was later pronounced dead.

The 56-year-old man driving the Chrysler showed no signs of impairment. He stayed at the scene and police say he was fully cooperative.

The woman’s body has been released to the Clark County coroner’s office.

Police say this is the 16th traffic-related death they have investigated this year.
