WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Two police officers suffered minor injuries when their vehicles were hit during a chase in northeast Wichita.
The incident began early Tuesday when officers responded to a report of a person possibly trying to break into vehicles. Officers chased a vehicle that drove off when they approached the area, said Wichita police Lt. Scott Moon.
Shortly after the chase began, a different vehicle hit the officers’ car from behind with enough force to launch it into a parking lot, Moon said.
The suspect’s vehicle then drove over several obstacles and struck a second police vehicle, he said. Police then called off the chase.
Moon said two officers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was treated by medical personnel, KAKE-TV reported.
Officers later found the suspect vehicle and took at least one person into custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
