DOVER, Del. (AP) - A Delaware man is facing charges after police say he crashed his van into an occupied ambulance.
The incident happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. Saturday when a van driven by 35-year-old Justin Pawlowski slammed into the rear of the ambulance, according to Dover police.
Three occupants of the ambulance, including two ambulance staffers, were taken to the hospital with injuries. One of the medical staff suffered a severe concussion and was unconscious for several hours.
The patient who was being transported in the ambulance was not injured.
Pawlowski was pinned inside his vehicle and suffered a broken leg and other minor injuries. A passenger inside the van was taken to the hospital for treatment of a shoulder injury.
Police said Pawlowski will be charged after being released from the hospital with three counts of vehicular assault, reckless endangering, drunken driving and traffic offenses.
