HOMESTEAD, Fla. (AP) - A carjacker in South Florida shot at a man on Thursday morning before taking off in his car and later crashing into two cars, officials said.

The incident began outside a Florida City Dollar General store when the suspect confronted the man, according to police. The man was not injured in the shooting.

The carjacker then drove to nearby Homestead where police spotted the stolen car and began pursuing it. He then crashed into two vehicles, injuring both himself and a person in one of the other vehicles, police said.

Police said one of the vehicles hit a light pole, which knocked out power in the area.

The suspect and victim were taken to the hospital, where one is listed in critical condition.

Police have not released the suspect’s name or indicated what he will be charged with.
