OPINION:
Truth, defined as “a fact that can be verified,” seems more flexible now han it once did. Today’s “truth” is much more pliable. It allows for some adjustment if necessary to achieve a ’noble’ end. Honesty is no longer a requisite requirement when assessing the character of an individual or a group.
There is a higher calling, one that supersedes honesty, forthrightness and sincerity. It’s all about delivering the proper message — a virtuous, political, narrative that has been decided upon by those few enlightened ones who profess to know how things should be. Those predisposed to the ideological creed of a certain political party have learned the hard way that truth is not always their best friend. It’s often too confining to be of much use.
A more beneficial approach is to implement whatever it takes to win. It’s become acceptable, even appropriate, to lie, cheat and steal to achieve political advantage. The opposition is so repugnant that a greater good will ultimately be served.
Democrats are trying to convince the public that a disorganized riot was really an insurrection incited by their favorite orange monster. Only the most willing believers will swallow this whopper. The rest are simply going along for the ride. For them, truth is no longer a guiding principle.
