KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A woman was killed and two others injured in a crash that occurred shortly after Kansas City police tried to stop the car the woman was driving, police said in a news release.
The crash happened Sunday afternoon, when an officer tried to stop a sedan the woman was driving in northeast Kansas City, police said. The woman refused to pull over, and the officer ended the stop, turning off all the squad car’s emergency lights and sirens, police said.
The driver then ran a red light and was broadsided by a semitrailer, police said. The 37-year-old Kansas City woman driving the car died at the scene, and a passenger in the car and the semitrailer driver were taken to hospitals to be treated for injuries, police said.
