OPINION:
It’s so boring and predictable: every time the processes of the Constitution are followed and the Democrats do not get their way, they want to change the rules. Lose an election? Change the rules. In this case, Sen. Manchin thwarted their “Build Back Broke” bill and they are clamoring to change the way senators are selected.
They’re now saying they wish senatots to be chosen based on population, the way House representatives are chosen. Democracy has been thwarted, they shout, because one vote frustrates what they want.
Funny, I don’t remember an outcry to change the Constitution when, in dramatic fashion, the senator from Arizona turned a thumbs down to the Republican bill to repeal Obamacare.
By the way, if the Senate is split 50-50 and the tie is broken by just one vote from Vice President Kamala Harris, is that the death knell of Democracy? Nope. It’s exactly the democracy envisioned in the U.S. Constitution. Will the Democrats ever just grow up and act like adults? Don’t hold your breath.
