OPINION:
When in the course of human events it becomes apparent that election of a particular president has been a monumental blunder, a decent respect for ourselves requires that we fix the problem.
That’s what many think. Our public discourse these days simmers with talk of impeachment, invoking the 25th Amendment, redoing the 2020 election and more. Our closest ally and best friend, Britain, insists that our commander in chief should be not just impeached but court-martialed.
That’s fine, but I’d like to hear more about what would follow. There should be a few top priorities: Restore our military and overhaul its general staff; refund and support our police; tighten election laws, with jail time for violators; close our southern border and finish the wall; curb spending and put a tight leash on Congress; and begin downsizing the federal government, starting with the closure of the unconstitutionally created Department of Education.
In short, correcting past blunders should be about the agenda that follows as much as it is about removing an unfit president.
