OPINION:
“New border asylum policy would strain DHS’s finances” (Web, Aug. 19) only further demonstrates the ineptitude that epitomizes the Biden administration. It is as if Joe thought ending the Trump policy of keeping migrants waiting in Mexico would somehow not balloon the number of unapproved border arrivals to a rate of over 2 million a year.
It’s similar to the way the Biden administration thought expanding the eligibility for COVID-19 vaccines before adequate supplies were available would not create massive shortages or result in people spending hundreds of hours fruitlessly searching the internet and their local pharmacies.
Did Biden think moving to stop oil-and-gas leases on federal land and shutting down pipeline plans would not result in a 40% increase in gasoline prices in 2021?
DId he believe that failing to have a contingency plan for the evacuation of Afghanistan would not more than recreate the fall of Saigon and arm the Taliban with the weapons, military vehicles and supplies left behind, while also necessitating the emergency return of 6,000 of our service personnel to Afghanistan?
