DERRY, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire authorities are investigating the suspicious death of a woman who was found dead in a house fire in Derry.
Gunshots were reportedly heard before the house became engulfed in flames Sunday night, the attorney general’s office said Monday. Derry police officers entered the home and found an unconscious and injured man on the kitchen floor and dragged him outside. Police officers were unable to go back inside because of the smoke and fire conditions, the attorney general’s office said.
The woman’s body was found inside after the firefighters put out the fire, officials said. She is believed to be Lynn Marie Viana, 53. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death. The injured man is believed to be her husband, Manoel Viana, 57.
Three police officers were treated and released from the hospital for injuries from the fire. Manoel Viana is being treated for life-threatening injuries at a Boston hospital, officials said.
There is no threat to the public, officials said.
