ST. LOUIS (AP) - A man was shot to death on a sidewalk near downtown St. Louis, and detectives are searching for a suspect, police said.
The shooting happened around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday near 14th Street and Chouteau Avenue, according to police. Arriving officers found Eric Rogers, 28, of South City, with several gunshot wounds on the sidewalk near several parked cars. Rogers died at the scene.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Rogers’ death marked at least 63 homicides in the city so far this year, compared with 47 homicides by the same time last year.
