TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson police on Tuesday arrested one of two people sought in a fatal shooting during a carjacking in a downtown parking garage, the Police Department said.

Luis Alberto Garcia, 21, was arrested at a hotel on suspicion of first-degree murder and other charges in the killing early Sunday morning of Mark Edward Doe, 52, and related incidents, police said.

According to police, Doe was shot in the chest as he confronted two men who were trying to rob people inside the parking garage and who then stole a pickup truck.

The stolen vehicle collided with several other vehicles as it was driven to the first floor.

Police several hours later spotted the pickup but with only one person inside. That person fired at offices who tried to pulled him over and the vehicle was later found abandoned, police said..

A search at that time did not locate the suspect.

A second suspect was still being sought, police said.

Alvarado was jailed Tuesday. Online court records didn’t list an attorney who might comment on his behalf.
