KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A teen shot over the weekend at a hotel near a Kansas City theme park has died from his injuries, police said.
The shooting happened around 7 p.m. Saturday inside Hometowne Studios, which sits west of Interstate 435 across from Worlds of Fun, according to a police news release.
The teen - later identified as 14-year-old Deontae Thomas - was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he underwent surgery, police said. He died of his injuries on Sunday, police said.
Police said homicide detectives have a person of interest in the case but are still looking for more information on the shooting from the public. Police have not released other details of the shooting.
