ST. LOUIS (AP) - A woman was shot and killed on Interstate 70 in St. Louis - becoming at least the fifth shooting victim on the interstate since September, police said.

The woman was shot just before midnight Wednesday on westbound Interstate 70. Officers found her with several gunshot wounds inside her car, which had overturned in a grass shoulder, KSDK reported. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said a sedan pulled alongside the victim and fired into her vehicle before driving away.

No other information, or the victim’s identity, has been released.

Police spokeswoman Officer Michelle Woodling said there is currently no indication the shootings are connected. She said several districts are working on the cases with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
