MOLINE ACRES, Mo. (AP) - Police in suburban St. Louis engaged in an hourslong standoff after pulling a man who had been shot several times from a Moline Acres home, only to later discover the suspect had fled after the shooting.

Officers were called to the home just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, St. Louis County police said. Officers entered the home and were able to get the victim out and take him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers believed the shooting suspect was still barricaded inside the home and called in a SWAT team, police said. About four hours later, a search of the home revealed that the suspect had fled the home before the SWAT team arrived. The suspect remained at large Wednesday morning.

Police had not released the name of the shooting victim by Wednesday morning.
