RESERVE, La. (AP) - A body was pulled Tuesday from the Mississippi River at Reserve, the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Sheriff Mike Tregre said a crewmember on a tugboat spotted the body in the middle of the river and called the Sheriff’s Office about 9:18 a.m. The body was recovered near Milepost 137, he said. Tregre did not release information about the deceased’s gender or race. His office said an autopsy will be conducted, The Advocate reported.

The discovery comes amid a search for Kori Gauthier, 18, an LSU student from Opelousas who has been missing since last Wednesday. Her car was found on the Interstate 10 Mississippi River bridge in Baton Rouge.
