LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police officers fatally shot a wanted man who charged at them with a knife following a foot pursuit after a vehicle chase, police said Wednesday.

The identities of those involved in the Tuesday night shooting were not immediately released.

The incident began when officers stopped a vehicle and discovered that the driver was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant and was considered armed and dangerous, police said in a statement.

While officers waited for additional units, the driver fled in his vehicle, resulting in a chase, police said.

Officers used a maneuver to stop the vehicle but the driver then got out and ran down the street before turning towards officers while armed with a knife, police said.

The officers then opened fire, killing the suspect, police said.
