PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) - A woman and an infant died in a two-vehicle crash in Henrico County, Virginia State Police said.

Erica K. Dixon, 31, of Williamsburg was killed Monday after the car she was driving crossed the median on Interstate 295 into oncoming traffic and hit another car, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Tuesday citing the state police statement.

Authorities said Dixon, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. The accident occurred around 5:25 p.m. Monday in the northbound lanes of I-295 at the 25-mile marker.

Police also said an infant was taken to VCU Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries. The infant was in a child safety seat, but authorities didn’t identify the infant. There also was no word on the condition of the occupants of the other car.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
