CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - Police in Cranston are investigating a fatal early morning shooting in the city.
The victim, a 24-year-old Providence man, was shot at about 4 a.m. Tuesday, Chief Michael Winquist said.
Officers responded to an area at the intersection of Harris Avenue and Cranston Street after neighbors heard gunshots.
The victim, whose name was not released, was found dead on the sidewalk outside a residence. The shooting is not considered random and there is no danger to the public, Winquist.
Police have questioned several people but have not announced an arrest.
There was a house party across the street from where the victim was shot and police are investigating whether there is a connection. Police are also looking at surveillance video from nearby businesses.
