BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (AP) - A New York man who plead guilty to accidentally shooting his wife in 2018 is still on paid leave from his job as a science teacher while on probation.
The Lake George school district has kept Eric Rosenbrock on paid leave since Sept. 2019 following his indictment in the shooting death of Ashley Rosenbrock, The Post-Star reported.
Rosenbrock told a court last year that his gun accidentally fired while he was cleaning it in advance of a hunting trip. He said that he didn’t check for bullets as he reassembled his gun and that it fired when he racked the slide. He was sentenced to five years’ probation in November.
The school district’s agreement with Rosenbrock, obtained by the newspaper, said Rosenbrock “may be assigned work, which will be structured and provided by the district’s superintendent of schools or designee” as long as the work takes place off site.
The agreement also said the district had considered disciplining Rosenbrock but was not planning to do so at this time.
The state is reviewing whether Rosenbrock may keep his teaching license, the newspaper reported.
