DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Des Moines police are investigating the Wednesday afternoon shooting death of a 36-year-old man at an apartment complex near Drake University.
Officers were called to the apartments to investigate a report of shots fired, police said in a statement. They found the man dead of gunshot wounds.
The man was identified Wednesday night as Sean Newman of Des Moines.
Investigators believe the shooter and Newman knew each other and there is no danger to the public, Sgt. Paul Parizek said.
The death was the 16th homicide this year in Des Moines.
