NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) - Two men killed in a shooting near the Rutgers University campus in New Jersey have been identified and their deaths have been ruled homicides, authorities said Monday.

Seven people were also wounded in the shooting, which occurred around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in New Brunswick. Four victims remain hospitalized, with three of them in stable condition and one in serious/critical condition, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

It was unclear Monday the victims were Rutgers students.

Authorities initially reported that six people had been wounded in the shooting, but prosecutors said Monday that an additional victim later came forward. That victim received minor injuries which did not require hospitalization.

The two deceased victims - Lionel Macauley, 28, of Somerset, and Anthony Robinson 23, of New Brunswick - both died of gunshot wounds, prosecutors said.

Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting.
