NYC woman fatally struck by Amtrak train in Hudson Valley

GREENPORT, N.Y. (AP) - A New York City woman was fatally struck by an Amtrak train in the Hudson Valley region, authorities said.

Fifty-four-year-old Anna Podgorbunski was walking north along train tracks in the town of Greenport shortly before 8 p.m. Friday when she was hit by a southbound train, the Columbia County sheriff’s office told the Times Union.

According to LinkedIn, Podgorbunski was a social worker and psychotherapist. She lived in the Bronx.

Greenport is about 36 miles south of Albany.
