3 family members in custody after Mississippi slaying

NEWTON, Miss. (AP) - Three family members are in custody after a woman was killed at a home in east-central Mississippi.

Newton County Sheriff Joedy Pennington said the suspects were arrested in connection with the death of Marian Roncali, who was found dead Sunday, WTOK-TV reported.

Pennington said a medical call was received Sunday around 10:30 a.m. and first responders suspected foul play. Pennington did not release details on how the victim died.

Arrested at the scene was Carlos Roncali, 46, the sheriff’s office said. After further investigation, Pennington said warrants were issued for Carlos Roncali’s mother and father, Sherry and James Roncali.

Pennington said the victim was Carlos Roncali’s wife.

Carlos Roncali faces charges of capital murder and kidnapping. He was denied bond. Sherry and James Roncali are both charged with accessory before-the-fact of capital murder. Their bonds were set at $25,000 each.

It was unknown if any of the suspects have attorneys who could speak on their behalf.
