DIXIE INN, La. (AP) - A Louisiana woman died and two truckers were injured in a fiery crash after a driver from Arkansas failed to slow for congestion ahead and shoved the woman’s SUV into another big rig, state police said Thursday.
Kimberley Cannon, 35, of Shreveport, was killed, Trooper First Class Brent Hardy said in a news release Thursday. Her 2017 Jeep SUV rolled over several times, he said in an email.
Both 58-year-old Rickey Darden of Parkin Cross, Arkansas, whose 2000 International caught fire after hitting Cannon’s vehicle, and the other trucker were taken to hospitals with moderate injuries, he said.
Hardy said in an email that he believed Darden was able to get out of his cab without being burned.
The wreck tied up traffic for hours Wednesday evening on Interstate 20 near Dixie Inn, KSLA-TV reported.
