Two people were arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Baltimore bus driver, police said Friday.
Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison told a news conference that officers arrested Cameron Kane Silcott, 24, and Nichelle Nicole Greene, 27, Thursday night at a housing development about six blocks from the scene of the killing.
Harrison said the suspects were apprehended without incident.
Greene and Silcott are each charged with first and second degree murder and assault, as well as several handgun violations, a police spokesman said.
Maryland Transit Administration bus driver Marcus Parks dropped off all of the passengers aboard his bus about 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The Baltimore Sun reported an individual approached and attempted to board the bus. When Parks refused, the two got into a verbal altercation, police say, and the man grabbed Parks’ bag and ran off, according to police.
Parks pursued him, and the man shot him several times. Police said that as Parks lay on the ground, witnesses said the man approached him and shot him again at close range before fleeing.
Police have no reason to believe that Parks knew his assailants, said Det. Donny Moses, a department spokesman.
