KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Police in Kansas City, Missouri, are investigating a wrong-way driving crash that killed two young mothers.

WDAF-TV reports that the accident happened Sunday morning on 43rd Street. The victims were Kiara Clark and Dedra Cox.

Clark’s mother, Kendra Cooks, said the wrong-way driver “needs to pay for what he did. He took two beautiful young ladies away.”

Police say the blue Dodge Charger that struck them was speeding westbound in the eastbound lane.

Cooks said Clark and Cox were best friends. Clark leaves behind a 6-year-old daughter. Cox had two children, including an infant.
