Driver dies in I-95 crash during rainstorm

SIDNEY, Maine (AP) - An 18-year-old driver has died in a crash in a rainstorm on Interstate 95 in Sidney, Maine State Police said.

Witnesses said the sport utility vehicle driven by Nicholas Caron, of Bangor, was traveling north on Friday when it went off the road into a grassy median and side-swiped a tree.

Caron was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle sustain massive damage to the passenger side and top, and both airbags deployed.

The crash is under investigation.
